The effect of an injury on the value of a player card
For the rare cards (rare Cards)
For absences from 5 to 10 games: Price decrease of 20-50%.
For absences of more than 30 games: Price decrease of 70-80%.
For the limited cards (limited cards)
For limited cards, there is a 2-fold drop in price after an injury compared to rare cards. Possible reasons:
Higher market liquidity: owners of rare cards are more likely to hold their injured players' cards or not offer discounts.
Increased price volatility for limited cards. This rarity is fairly recent and suffered a dip in late 2021. Many of the violations analyzed overlap with this period.
The limited market is shorter term than the rare market. Consequently, injuries and suspensions affect many more prices.
