FIRST STEPS

Before you invest a lot of time and money in the manager game, we advise you to carefully consider your tactics and strategy for buying and selling player cards. Below we give you some input on how this might look in detail.

Resist the hype

Look for undervalued Sorare cards, not hype. Find quality players that the market has overlooked.

Due to the large number of players available, there are constantly players on the market that are overlooked. Don't be tempted to buy players who are hyped up on Twitter, but focus on assessing the real value of a player yourself.

For example, focus on the lower leagues, but use them in the "All Star" competition. In All Star, 100 points are the same whether they come from a Liverpool or Watford player.

Diversify your portfolio

Spread your money over many players. Don't risk everything for one or two stars.

A diversified portfolio with different players, but also different teams, leagues, positions and rarities protects your investment from price shocks.

For example, if a player gets injured it is less bad for your portfolio.

Diversification not only reduces risk, but also increases liquidity, which increases compound interest as you can sell small portions of your gallery to reinvest. If you're constantly selling cards, you can constantly reinvest the profits and increase the payouts.

Note: It is also important to invest in good players and top teams to have any chance at all in the competitions.

Think in S05 points

S05 points and card prices are closely related. If you own a card while its score is improving, your profit increases (double return of capital gains (price increase) and dividends (S05 bonuses)):

The ticket price increases due to the better score.

Market fluctuations create value

Buy quality cards when prices fall. The Sorare market is very reactive and short-sighted. If quality cards fall in price, find out why. Focus on the reason for the drop and judge for yourself whether the price change is justified.

Master the Sorare mechanics

A good understanding of both the S05 competitions and the market mechanics is crucial. Make sure you are familiar with the Sorare Fantasy game S05, e.g. the team stacks or certain statistics. As for the market: try to understand timing and price movements. When a transfer rumor appears: when does the price jump up? Does it stay high or does it fall again? How do the prices of other players react?

Think ahead and stay flexible

It can be tempting to jump from one investment to the next. For example, consider why you bought a card. If the reason still applies, stay patient. Try to recognize turning points - when events occur that could cause the price to rise so that you should sell. This could be after a series of easy games where the player scores several high hits. This way you can keep a cool head, knowing that these opportunities to sell will come. Always keep some cash back or have some assets that can be sold quickly. Also use the Sorare calendar.

Minimize secondary market fees

With the fees for the Sorare secondary market and the cost of depositing and withdrawing money, the fees add up. Sometimes it's best to stay passive just because you pay fewer fees. Keep in mind that there are no fees for keeping a card, but there are fees for selling and buying another card.

Use your football knowledge

Information is the key advantage. It can feel like managers on Sorare have an expert eye on every league in the world. However, that is not the case. Determine the area where you have an information advantage. This could be a nation, a league, a position, skills, etc. Or maybe you have an edge in a particular non-player area. For example, you know the best clubs for player development or which teams have partnerships. Focus on your expertise to make up for the financial gap with knowledge.

Emotions

Do not buy and sell when emotions are involved. Lay out the plan and follow it consistently.

Team strength as a scoring factor

Basically, the better the team plays in the league, the better a player usually scores.

Things you should never do:

Never neglect scouting (even with a transfer rumor): Always see what the player's Sorare scores are, what the market value is, and enter the name on Twitter to have the most up-to-date information about him.

Never buy a player just before the deadline. Most of the time you only buy players for one gameweek and the card loses its value afterwards.

Do not waste money buying mediocre players. Without quality players, the chance of winning prizes is very low.

Do not pay the price that is currently listed on the transfer market. Instead, try to get the card cheaper with an offer.

And when you have your team together:

Act exclusively with foresight and buy players who - barring atypical market fluctuations - will almost certainly increase in value in a few weeks, months or even years (e.g. goalkeeping talent, undervalued national team players for international matches, end of season, etc.)
