What is the difference between physical and digital player cards?
What is the difference between physical player cards (Panini images) and digital player cards (Sorare)?
Physical cards have an unknown number of editions. Often the cards are overproduced. For example, a physical football card may have over a thousand unique cards in a single season with a total print run in the millions.
For digital maps, the editions are known and easy to understand. For example, a Sorare digital football map has only five different gradations per season and their total print run is limited and known.
Physical cards are not up to date. It often takes a very long time for new cards to appear before a transfer can be acted upon. In addition, it regularly happens that the cards of the current season are not yet on the market and the cards of the previous season are sold.
Digital maps are always up to date. Sorare, for example, publishes its maps for the current season on time.
Physical cards cover only the well-known football players. Many athletes who are not in the limelight do not exist as physical cards.
Digital map companies also publish maps of unknown players. Unknown players are thus given a platform.
Physical cards have no use and are "only" collectibles.
Digital football cards have a use and can be used in a fantasy football game. The values are determined by the performance of the players. Not because some influencer said he liked them.
